NMTC 2020-21

NMTC is an acronym for National Mathematics Talent Contest. NMTC is conducted by AMTI (Association of Mathematics Teachers of India) to identify the talent of the students in Mathematics. 

NMTC exam is conducted to discover and encourage students who have the capacity for original and creative thinking, readiness to attack unfamiliar and non-routine problems exhibiting a general mathematical ability appropriate to their level.

AMTI

AMTI (Association of Mathematics Teachers of India) is an academic body of professionals and students who have a passion in Mathematics research and education. AMTI organization first started in Tamil Nadu and now it is spreading its network in all over the country especially in South India.

NMTC 2020-21 Eligibility

NMTC exams is categorized into five levels according to class/grade studying the students. 

The students may be from Schools, Junior Colleges of all boards, Degree Colleges and Technological Institutions in India and also Schools affiliated to the CBSE abroad.

NMTC 2020-21 Exam Stage

NMTC is a two stages examination. The stages of NMTC are as below:

Stage 1 : NMTC Preliminary Test : Every candidates of NMTC Primary, Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior must appear in NMTC Preliminary test.

Stage 2 : NMTC Final Test: Every candidates except NMTC Senior will appear in NMTC Final test. Senior level students appear in NMTC Preliminary test only.

NMTC 2020-21 Exam Paper Medium

In previous years, the medium of the question paper for NMTC Primary, NMTC Sub-Junior, NMTC Junior level are according to state where the candidates belongs, it means the papers is in the English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil or Telgu. But for this year NMTC 2020-21, the medium of paper will be ENGLISH only for all level of NMTC.

And also, for the NMTC Senior Level, the medium of the question paper will be in English only.

NMTC 2020-21 Notification

AMTI released the NMTC 2020-21 notification of the official website of AMTI. In this notification, all the details regarding the NMTC examination like application date, last syllabus, exam pattern are described, which are as below.

NMTC 2020-21 Registration Dates

The last date for NMTC 2020-21 registration is 10 March 2021 (Wednesday)

NMTC 2020-21 Registration Procedures

Due to the uncertainty created by the pandemic, regarding the reopening of schools, AMTI have decided to move the online way for the Stage-1 examination.

There is a big change in procedure for registration of participants.

The schools will now inform their students, who are interested in taking the tests to apply on line in AMTI website: amtionline.com. The registration is thus individualized. The system will generate the school ID and it will be sent to the corresponding school for their reference. The candidate will also need to provide a clear photo snap along with their name, school id and active mobile and e-mail contacts.

Payment to be made by the student is also online. Once the payment goes through, the system will send a 13 digit registration number to their active personal mobile and email id, which they would have provided with AMTI. 

NMTC 2020-21 Registration Fee

The registration fee for NMTC 2020-21 is Rs 150.00.

Each institution will receive from AMTI Rs.25/- per candidate appearing for Stage-1; this is for their incidental expenses and also to conduct the Stage-2 Final test.

NMTC 2020-21 Exam Dates  Paper Pattern

The NMTC 2020-21 Mock Test (new change in NMTC 2020-21) exam will be conducted on 15 March 2021 (Monday) for 90 minutes duration.

The NMTC 2020-21 Preliminary Test (Stage 1) exam will be conducted on 20 March 2021 (Saturday) from for 90 minutes duration.

The Mock Test and Stage-1 test will be of 90 minutes duration. There will be a window of 4 hours within which the student can log in. As soon as the student logs in, the time starts. At the end of 90 minutes it will automatically close, submitting the answers provided by the student up to that point.

The student once logged in, must continue for 90-minutes, and then submit. Every student will not get the same set of questions. The questions will be chosen by the computer from a large set of questions (of almost same difficulty level) at random.

Whole process at the student’s end will be monitored by AMTI. It is important to remember that any substitution of candidate will immediately be communicated to AMTI, as the students have to keep their cameras on all through.

The NMTC 2020-21 Final Test (Stage 2) exam will be conducted on 03 April 2021 (Saturday) from 1 PM to 4 PM.

Stage-2 (Final) test will be a paper and pen examination as last year. The eligible students will take the Stage-2 test in their own institutions or schools. The Stage-1 certificate will be the Hall-ticket for the Final (stage2) test.

It will be conducted only in the school the candidate is studying. The solutions of problems shall be written by the candidates only in the answer sheets (strictly A4 size) supplied by their school.

NMTC 2020-21 Result Date

The result of NMTC 2020-21 will be declared as following.

NMTC Preliminary Test Result : On or Before 31 March 2021

NMTC Final Test Result : On or Before 15 May 2021

Number of Qualifying Students in NMTC

In the result of NMTC Preliminary test, the top 10% scorers at each level will be qualified for the second stage NMTC Final test.

NMTC Awards

>> Cash Awards to the top 3 winners in each level at the finals, (1st position Rs.5000/-, 2nd Rs.3000/- and 3rd Rs.2000/-), Merit Certificates for them and others selected at the final level with some cash award for the latter also will be given based on their revealing a reasonable level of mathematical maturity.
