Math Olympiad Notification 2019
NBHM (National Board for Higher Mathematics) introduced Math Olympiad program in India that leads to participate of Indian students in IMO (International Mathematics Olympiads). For this program, HBCSE (Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education) organizes the Mathematics Olympiad exams and the training to the selected students.
For the training and selection for IMO, NBHM creates 26 regions all over India and each region has a Regional Coordinator (RC).

Now, Maths Olympiad exam is a six stages of exams including training and camp. The full details of stages of Maths Olympiads exam is below.
Math Olympiads Syllabus
The syllabus of Maths Olympiad is as below:
The major areas of the problems are
Theory of Equations,
The topics covered in these major areas are
Arithmetic of Integers,
Quadratic Equations & Expressions,
Permutations & Combinations,
The syllabus does not include Calculus and Statistics. The problems under each topics involve high level of difficulty.
The difficulty level increases according to the stages of exams from PRMO to RMO to INMO to IMO.
Math Olympiad Stage 1 (Pre RMO 2019 Notification)
In the first stage of Math Olympiad, there is an exam known as PRMO (Pre RMO – Regional Mathematics Olympiad) and it is organised by HCSE and it is conducted by MTA (Mathematics Teacher’s Association).
Pre RMO 2019 Notification
The official notification of Pre RMO is released now. The official website of PRMO Notification is available on http://www.mtai.org.in/activities/exams/prmo/.
Pre RMO 2019 Registration Dates
The PRMO examination centers registration will be open from 1 June 2019 to 30 June 2019 on the exam portal of PRMO.
The students registration will be open from 1 June 2019 to 7 July 2019 on the exam portal of PRMO and it is done by the registered centers.
All Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) and Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya (JNV) and Atomic Energy Central Schools may also register as registration centers and may accept to register students from other schools.
The exam portal of Pre RMO 2019 is https://mtaexam.com/.
Pre RMO 2019 Registration Fee
The registration fee for PRMO 2019 is Rs 230.00 for each non-KV and non-JNV student.
The registration centre will retain Rs 20.00 (to be used for making student lists and printing admission tickets) and remit the balance of Rs 210.00 to MTA.
The registration fee for PRMO 2019 is Rs 125.00 for each KV and Rs. 100 for each JNV student.
For such KV and JNV students, the registration centre will remit the entire amount (Rs.125 or Rs.100) to MTA.
Pre RMO 2019 Eligiblity
To be appear in Pre RMO, there are following eligibility required for the students:
>> Candidate’s Date of Birth (DOB): On or after 01-08-2000
>> Candidates must be studying in Class: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.
>> Candidates must be Indian citizen.
Pre RMO 2019 Last Date of Registration
The last date for the registration of students for Pre RMO 2019 is 7 July 2019.
Pre RMO 2019 Admit Card
The admit card for Pre RMO 2019 exam may be released in one or two weeks before PRMO 2019 exam date.
Pre RMO 2019 Syllabus
The Pre RMO syllabus is same as Math Olympiad syllabus as discussed above.
Pre RMO Exam Date
The PRMO 2019 exam is conducted on 11 August 2019 from 10 AM to 1 PM.
Pre RMO 2019 Time Duration
The time duration of Pre RMO 2019 exam paper is 3 hours (from 10 AM to 1 PM).
Pre RMO 2019 Total Number of Questions Asked
In the Pre RMO, there are total of 30 questions asked in the questions paper.
Pre RMO 2019 Total Marks
In the Pre RMO, there are total of 30 questions asked in the questions paper out of which
Ques No from 1 to 6 >> 2 Marks Each >> 2 x 6 = 12 Marks
Ques No from 7 to 21 >> 3 Marks Each >> 3 x 15 = 45 Marks
Ques No from 22 to 30 >> 5 Marks Each >> 5 x 9 = 45 Marks
Thus, total marks in PRMO is 12 + 45 + 45 = 102 Marks
Pre RMO 2019 Paper Pattern
In the Pre RMO, there are total of 30 questions asked in the questions paper of subjective type but the final answer is either in single digit or two digits answer and the final answer is bubbled in the OMR sheet.
If your answer is a single digit, then make it two digit by placing zero (0) before your answer. For example: if your answer of any question no 2 is 5, then you need to bubbled as 05 in the OMR sheet as below.
Pre RMO Negative Marking
In the Pre RMO, there is NO negative marking.
Pre RMO 2019 Conducting Body
The Pre RMO is conducted by MTA.
Pre RMO 2019 Result Date
The result of Pre RMO is declared in the month of September 2019, just next month (August) of the exam.
Number of Qualifying Students in Pre RMO
In the result of Pre RMO, the number of qualifying students is as below.
From each region,
Top 300 students from class 8, 9, 10 and 11 are selected, and
Top 60 students from class 12 are selected.
For KV (Kendriya Vidyalay) and JNV (Jawaharlal Nehru Vidyalay),
Top 5% students from class 8, 9, 10 and 11 are selected, and
Top 1% students from class 12 are selected.
