CUET Chemistry Aldehydes Ketones Carboxylic Acid: Important Points to Remember

There are following important points in this chapter of Aldehydes Ketones Carboxylic Acid.

CUET Chemistry: Preparation of Aldehyde or Ketone

CUET Chemistry: Chemical Properties of Aldehyde and Ketones

Addition of Grignard reagents

Beckmann rearrangement:

Thus acid catalysed conversion of ketoximes to N-substituted amides is called Beckmann rearrangement.

A. Clemmesnsen reduction

B. Wolff-Kishner reduction

Selenium dioxide (SeO2)

Baeyer – Villiger oxidation

Benzoin Condensation

Perkin’s reaction

CUET Chemistry: Properties of Carboxylic Acid

Acidity:

The effect of the following groups in increasing acidity order is: Ph< I < Br < Cl < F < CN < NO2 < CF3

Thus, the following acids are arranged in order of decreasing acidity(based on pKa values):

Acidity of Benzoic acid: Acidity of benzoic acid is decreased by any substituents that decreases the electron density on the nucleus.

Ortho effect: Any ortho substituted benzoic acid is stronger than non ortho substituted benzoic acid.

CUET Chemistry Mock Test

Now, you have revised the this CUET Chemistry chapter. So, you must need to practice CUET Chemistry Sample Papers. By solving these CUET Chemistry questions, you will be more confident about your CUET preparations.
