NCERT Solutions for Class 12 Maths Vector Algebra

NCERT Solutions for Class 12 Maths Vector Algebra Exercise 10.1: Ques No 1.

Represent graphically a displacement of 40 km, 30° east of north.

NCERT Solutions:

On a scale of 1 cm = 10 km, we draw a line segment of length 4 cm on the right of ON, making an angle of 30 degree with ON.

Thus, the vector represents displacement of 40 km, 30 degree east of north.

NCERT Solutions for Class 12 Maths Vector Algebra Exercise 10.1: Ques No 2.

Classify the following measures as scalars and vectors.

(i) 10 kg

(ii) 2 meters north-west

(iii) 40°

(iv) 40 watt

(v) 10–19 coulomb

(vi) 20 m/s2

NCERT Solutions:

(i) 10 kg has magnitude only. So, this is a Scalar Quantity

(ii) 2 meters north-west has both magnitude and direction. So, this is a Vector Quantity.

(iii) 40° has magnitude only. So, this is a Scalar Quantity.

(iv) 40 watt has magnitude only. So, this is a Scalar Quantity.

(v) 10–19 coulomb has magnitude only. So, this is a Scalar Quantity.

(vi) 20 m/s2 is an acceleration which has both magnitude and direction. So, this is a Vector Quantity.
